Welcome to Class 4

Welcome to Class 4! There are currently 29 of us and our teacher is Miss Crowther. Mrs De Ruiter helps us to produce some wonderful pieces of artwork on a Monday afternoon too. Within Class 4 we are encouraged to grow in confidence, maturity and independence as we develop through our junior school life.

Click on the tabs to grab an insight into our learning and any other relevant information needed.

Our first topic this year is 'The Inside Story' where we will be learning all about our own bodies. This will include our skeletons, muscles and digestive system! We will link this to the importance of exercise and gain an understanding of what we can do to stay fit and healthy. This topic will also focus on our own locality surrounding Rainow. We will research and discover geographical regions within the UK and later compare to a European city to highlight the similarities and differences. To find out more about this exciting topic, please click on the topic web below.

During the Spring term, our topic is 'Rainforests'. We will concentrate on the geographical locations of the largest rainforests around the world through using maps, atlases, globes and digital/computing mapping. This will explore and develop new vocabulary associated with rainforests that we will use across the curriculum. This topic also looks into the life within the rainforest, leading to an understanding of settlement and land use as well as trade links of natural resources. To gain a deeper insight into our Rainforest topic, click on the topic web link below.

Every child in class 4 will be given a new set of spellings every Monday in their green spelling journal. They should complete the homework that will be stuck into the books and return it to school by Friday.

Maths homework will be sent out every Friday with a due date included. This homework will often include a few fundamental times tables facts that the children should learn and memorise so they have instant recall. They will also have a work sheet that will embed any learning that has already taken place within school.
