Welcome to Year Five!

Class Information

There are 21 children in Year Five and the class teacher is Mrs Eddie.  Mrs De Ruiter teaches art on Monday afternoons.

Our Learning

During the Summer term, we will be 'Exploring the World'.  More information about our learning can be found in the topic overview and Knowledge Organiser, which can be downloaded below.

Our key questions are:

What are lines of longitude and latitude?
Where are continents, countries, capital cities and major physical features located?
What are Physical and Human features?
How do Volcanoes & Earthquakes work?
Who are the people that discovered new worlds?

Our topic in the Spring term was called 'How Britain Began' and we found out how life in Britain developed and changed during the Stone, Bronze, Iron Ages and Roman Britain.

Our topic in the Autumn term was called 'Is it right to fight?' and we learnt about WW1 and WW2.

Our key questions were:

* How did WW1 and WW2 start?

* What was life like in the Trenches?

* How were Rainow/Macclesfield affected by the wars?

* What is Remembrance Sunday?

* What was life like for an evacuee?

If you are looking for your next read then there is a list of fiction books related to both world wars here: http://www.lovereading4kids.co.uk/genre/ww1/The-World-Wars.html
